Graphic Organizer for Understanding Characters // Craig Yen

I used this whole class with my fourth grade class to go ahead and address reading standard 3.3 which is understanding character's traits and motivations. I then followed it up with a similar graphic organizer to test their understanding with good success. It really helps students to see how their stories are broken down. As a fourth grade teacher, I feel that this is particularly important as students are required to take the STAR writing test in which they do have to write narratives at time. Understanding how to create compelling characters would be a good thing for writers to be able to do.
